NEC will equip future devices from Apple ultra-thin batteries

If your new iPad seems to you hard and thick it is - because of the increased battery life. Powerful hardware consumes a lot of electricity, it is clear, but the preponderance of the volume between the card and the battery has become a downright obscene. Is it time to show the battery in its place?

It is time to think of the Japanese NEC. Since 2005, the company is developing a so-called Organic radical battery (ORB), flexible batteries 0.3 mm thick. Made with the finest of the polymer film, she is charged for 30 seconds and has a moderately high energy density (1 mW-hour per square centimeter) ... but that its advantages are over. Battery capacity is 3 mA-hour - against the target of 1432 milliampere-hour at iPhone 4S. Such a vessel (and its loss during each cycle, additional charge) is sufficient for devices with low power consumption, but the device from Apple for those clearly not relevant.

And although the online International Business Times newspaper said that the chances to see the ORB-pack in the next iPhone are high, we tend to relate to these words with skepticism. Whether business - future devices, those that appear after a few years. It is gratifying if Apple is discussing with NEC prospects for joint work in this direction.
