Man first off the ground, waving his hands

"The Flying Dutchman" - so it is logical well-deserved gratitude of mankind's called a Dutch engineer Jarno Smits (Dutch engineer Jarno Smeets), by which he seems to come true - of humanity - an old dream: to flap their wings, rise into the sky and there is a free flying stork. In the video, which has recently been posted on the Internet, just sealed a dream come true. Accompanied by improvised Jarno arrived in the park, appends to his wings, runs up, waving them, and takes off. Rises into the sky about 100 meters.

Most of the "audience", of course, decided that they somehow make a fool of.

- Yes, the frames can be seen: the engineer is running, waving his wings and truly off the ground. But not alone though. Perhaps he pulled a rope. And run in the manner of a kite. The more so that the wings are at it - like a snake,,, skeptics argued.

Particularly acute catch sensed intelligent Internet users who remember the history and know a lot about aerodynamics. After all, even Leonardo da Vinci proved that people with hands-wings he can fly. He was not strong enough. It's too weak and underdeveloped in his "breast" - pectoral muscles, through which a bird and fly.

Nevertheless, "The Flying Dutchman" took to the skies, flapping his wings. And no one would never pulled.

Jarno has, of course, there's a secret. It was he allowed to "wash" of Leonardo himself. Even partially.

The engineer came up with the original scheme. He waves his arms, and not the wings themselves. Incidentally, this is evident in frames. Electronics "aware" of his efforts, transfers them to a control signal to the motors. And they are already set in motion the wings, according to the efforts of Jarno. The more intense and more frequent, he waves his hands, so, consequently, faster and more powerful flapping wings make. That is, the illusion that you fly on their own, complete.

To deliver its "empty hands hassle" on the wings of "The Flying Dutchman" used two phones HTC Wildfire S, microcontroller Seeduino, accelerometers and motion sensors on the station playing popular Nintendo Wii, Bluetooth, and brushless motors Turnigy. All of this filling is placed in a small box behind the flyer.

Jarno Smits '31. "Flying Dutchman", he was, carrying out their project Human Birdwings Project

On his account for two successful flapping flight.

It is rumored that when the results will be quite stable, but rises above the ground - is absolutely safe, the engineer begins to replicate its technology and sell it to anyone wishing to become a bird. In heaven, perhaps, will be crowded.
